It's a shame that I actually like appletini's
I mainly drink Guiness, vodka Martini's, and gin and tonics.

Sometimes it's just nice for a change of pace. However due to articles like this it's hard to drink one without people questioning your sexuality. :eyeroll:

Dave the bartender needs to fluff up his undies and slather on a little more Clinique and go easy on the drinkin tips. Here are some major caveats to his comments:

While sitting on the lanai at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel or the Hilton Hawaiian Village, one MUST order enough garnish for a casual viewer to wonder whether you've got Carmen Miranda in your glass. Anything else marks you for someone who does not understand the critical importance of drinking in context. (Another tip: skip the fruit garnish that comes with the fermented yak's milk in Ulan Batuur ... definetly inappropriate for that particular setting).

Mint juleps should ALWAYS be sipped through a silver julep straw, in a silver cup, preferably under a Panama while watching the Kentucky Derby. But this is the major exception to the "no-straw" rule.

The following drinks should always be served neat: aged tequilla, good rum, vodka and aquavit (chilled to around 20 degrees), and Irish whisky. And if the girl you're with insists on mixers with any of these, keep movin' bub. She's not worth the price of the drink.
