6 Reasons Eating Healthier Meat Can Keep Your Meat Healthier
02/19/2010

Ever wonder if eating meat is what's been keeping the meat of millions of men down? Me either. I figured it was just old age, or all those tabloid pics of Amy Winehouse we've been subjected to.

That was before I spoke to John Wood (you'll see why that's ironic in a second), founder of US Wellness Meats, and he told me the reason so many guys need to resort to Viagra in order to get wood, is the meat we've been eating. According to Wood, this is a major contributor to erectile dysfunction.

Now, I love my meat, but I also love my meat (if you catch my drift...) So what's a meat loving guy to do? Switch to nutrient-rich grass-fed beef, says Wood. Not only is it free from the E.D.-inducing hormones, steroids and other additives in the majority of meat we eat, but it's also got Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Beta Carotene, Omega-3 fatty acids and cancer fighting CLA.

Here are a few of the reasons why Wood says grass-fed meat is not only a healthy alternative to chemical-infused supermarket meat, but possibly a tasty option for those averse to overdosing on chemical-packed little blue pills:

1 - Diet.
Erectile dysfunction has a lot to do with diet. Most grain-fed meat contains soy, which produces estrogen, a hormone that’s clearly brutal on the male sex drive.

2 - Manly Hormones.
Also unlike grain-fed meat (and Viagra), grass-fed beef is loaded with fat-burning and artery-opening CLA and nutrients, and is shown to boost testosterone and build lean muscle mass. Quite a few body builders and women's figure fitness competitors are even using this for an unfair advantage.

3 - Natural Selection.
Low in fat and full of muscle-building CLA, grass-fed meat helps shed fat and put on muscle, making your average run-of-the-mill bachelor that much more attractive to females.

4 - Energy.
No one wants to be the guy who complains, "Baby, I'm too tired." The naturally high protein levels (which result from a process that directly converts solar energy into protein energy) in grass-fed meat means that she'll be tired long before you are.

5 - The Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio.
Omega-6s are inflammatory and Omega-3s are anti-inflammatory, making Omega-3s a boon to the health and well being of any alpha male. Grain-fed beef has an Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio of 20:1 (definitely not good), while grass-fed beef has an Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio of 2:1.

6 - Branch Chain Amino Acids.
Grass-fed meat provides a double dose of branch chain amino acids, which enable athletes to run faster and jump higher on the playing field. They also provide a boost of endurance in the bedroom.

Great, but how does it taste? John sent me some samples of their meats, (they not only have beef, but veal, lamb, poultry, bison, pork, and a host of other stuff we love to cook over a flame...) and it tastes way better than the store-bought stuff we've been chowing on. Their burgers could be the best I've had in a long time. And I'm chalking that up to the fact that we can taste the additives they've been feeding the livestock all these years.

And you will pay more for grass-fed, but in my opinion, it's well worth it. I'd rather spend my money on better meat now, to keep me from having to spend my money on those little blue pills to keep my meat better, in the future.
