A Tribute to the Yankees Season... in Cocktails
09/25/2009

Doesn't matter if you're a lifelong Yankee fan like me, or if you love to hate the Evil Empire, you have to admit 2009 has been a great year for the Bombers. They finally got a new stadium, Jeter broke the club's hits record, Mo saved his 500th, they clinched a playoff spot, and can top it all off by nailing down the AL East against the friggin Red Sox this weekend.

And Tommy Bahama Rum is toasting the Pinstripes with a bunch of fall drinks, each named after one of the season’s highlights and more memorable moments.

Perfect for raising a glass, as we raise yet another pennant...

The Sox on the Rocks
August 6th, 2009 began the 4 game series where the Yankees swept the Red Sox to shove Boston six and a half games out of first place in the American League East.
1 1/2 parts Tommy Bahama White Sand Rum
3/4 part JC Apple Cognac
1/2 part Apple Puree
1/4 part Sweet Vermouth

Shake ingredients over ice and pour into a chilled glass. Garnish with an apple to show NY is on top.

A-Rod Krush
We talked about him all season. Might as well drink to him too.
1 1/2 parts Tommy Bahama Golden Sun
3/4 part fresh lime juice
1 parts simple syrup
6 fresh mint leaves
2 dashes angostura bitters
1 part Prosecco

Muddle mint with lime juice and simple syrup into a mixing glass. Add Golden Sun Rum and bitters and shake over ice. Top with Prosecco.

Mo than 500
On June 28, 2009, the Yanks closer, Mariano Rivera, became only the second pitcher ever to break the 500 save mark, making him one of the best closers of all time.
2 parts Tommy Bahama Golden Sun Rum
1 part Maple Syrup
2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Shake ingredients over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist for mo flavor.

Battin 1000 (plus 1722)
On September 11, 2009, Jeter broke the New York Yankees' hit record held by Lou Gehrig for more than seven decades with 2,722 hits.
2 parts Tommy Bahama Golden Sun Rum
1 part Hazelnut Liqueur
1 pinch Cinnamon Powder
1 Cinnamon Stick

Shake Golden Sun Rum and hazelnut liqueur over ice and strain into a glass. Sprinkle with cinnamon and garnish with a bat (or stick) of cinnamon.

Playoff Punch
On September 22, 2009 the Yankees beat the Angels and secured their spot in the 2009 Post Season.
2/3 parts Tommy Bahama Golden Sun Rum
1 Part Tommy Bahama White Sand Rum
1/3 part premium Orange Liqueur
1 3/4 parts Pineapple Juice
1/2 lime
1 3/4 parts Orange Juice
2 dashes Grenadine

Pour all ingredients except Tommy Bahama Golden Sun rum into a shaker with ice. Shake sharply. Pour into a glass filled with ice. Carefully float the dark rum on top.
