Bad-Ass Bikes From 'Bama
01/03/2008

If one of your New Year's resolutions is to man up and finally get that bike you've been threatening to buy for years, then do it right and don't just get yourself some cookie-cutter ride off the lot. Let the other guys do that. You want something different. Something that'll turn heads when it's roaring down the road. Something like the Hellcat or the B120 Wraith.

Looking like they were built out of parts stolen from Satan's erector set, this pair of sport bikes created by the Confederate Motor Company out of Birmingham, Alabama, makes the bold statement that luxury, top-quality materials, revolutionary design, and balls-to-the-wall power can all coexist in one bad-ass, two-wheeled package.

Their F131 Hellcat is designed around an incredibly stiff "F" architecture that gives the bike a rock-solid feel when you call on all 145 horses from the handcrafted engine. A special, limited edition Combat version is available (pictured top), which boasts 12% more horsepower and 4% more torque from its hand ported and polished head design, ultra high compression, special camshaft grind, and returned intake system.

The B120 Wraith (pictured bottom), is unlike any bike you've seen on the road before. An homage to the bikes of the 1930's, its aircraft aluminum body with carbon fiber-winged front forks looks like it would be just as at home in a Ridley Scott film as it would be accelerating down the interstate.

These bikes are limited to a production run of only 250, and, not surprisingly, there is a waiting list for ownership. So add your name, and by the time the spring thaw comes around, you could be trading your old snow plow for a new street machine.

$75,000 - F131 Hellcat
$82,500 - Combat Hellcat
$82,500 - B120 Wraith ($90,000 for immediate delivery)

Stop by the factory before making a purchase, you'll be shocked by what you see......smoke and mirrors, once you've been there you'll understand that the only thing birmingham has to offer to the motorcycle community is Barber's Motorsports Park...

I own a 2006 Hellcat and could not be happier with the bike or my experience dealing with the company. I got my bike in less than 2 weeks from the purchase date. I could care less what their factory looks like, the bike speaks for itself.

Thats funny, no one by the name of Gerald bought a Hellcat in 06... Not to mention there was less than a dozen built that year....and IF you did it was used and it wasn't bought from Matt. The Machines, like any machine, if built right will run...but your paying for more than a machine. What about the ______ behind the machine? Are you buying what he is serving? High price to pay to be cool......at least in your own mind.

Hi Ladies.....Wow, how do you all type when your nails are drying? ....I don't know what the hell you're all gossiping about.....Bikes are meant to be fun, cool and almost always innovative; even when retro, they always have new technology.....Most of you are the types that ride either Harleys (with a tough look on your face) or Sports Bikes, and you probably give each other the finger when you see one another. Buell was created to get over that hump, because you “men” were unable to on your own. Yes, it was a conspiracy, y’all love conspiracies, don’t ya?.....Here in Europe, just happy to be out on 2 wheels with gas at $8.50 a gallon here, riding is essential and practical. It's only when Yanks (Americans) get involved, does riding become "Clannish"... I lived in the U.S.A, for 15 years when AMF took over Harley and you had to get on a Japanese built machine just to ride (after Hodaka disappeared). Do you think that American Indian natives build "Indian Motorcycles?” or profit from the name or sales? Certainly not, and no doubt, ClansMen, do not build Confederate bikes....Live to ride, ride to live

Confederate was born and based in New Orleans until Hurricane Katrina blew their offices and factory away. The plan is to build a state of the art facility on the Barber track and museum grounds. The downtown location is temporary.

Meet Matt and the employees, designers, and engineers at Confederate. Top notch people all around.

These bikes are far and away the most technologically advanced and beautifully built machines on the planet.
