Free Beta - ZoneAlarm ForceField
10/31/2007

ZoneAlarm, makers of award-winning security and firewall software are getting ready to launch their new ForceField virtualized, on-demand browser security solution next year. It will retail for about $29.95, but until then you can use the public beta version for free.

They built it from the ground up to fight nasty browser-based Web threats, like spyware and phishing, that can grab your personal info while you're shopping or banking online. And with the holidays around the corner, if you aren't using some sort of protective software, (Always. Use. Protection.), you need to look into installing one before placing your online orders.

I installed the ForceField beta on my PC at home and, while it slows my browsing speeds a bit, I think it's easy enough to use that any guy, with any level of computer knowledge, could use it. I really like the Private Browser mode which lets you surf anywhere, type anything, and not leave a trace on the computer. At all. No history, no temp files, nothing. (Which makes it ideal for surfing those sites your girl doesn't want you surfing.)

Other features and benefits include:
Virtual surfing which creates a duplicate, disposable version of “you” to block Web attacks, letting you surf safely, while the other "you" takes any hits.

Two-way protection that not only defends your PC against Internet attacks, but also protects Web sessions from threats already on your hard drive, like spyware and keyloggers.

Advanced anti-phishing utilizes sophisticated heuristics and the best signature system available to prevent you from visiting fraudulent Web sites that try to trick you into revealing personal data.

Dangerous download detector checks every file download form the Internet to make sure it’s clean.

Anti-keylogger/screengrabber discovers and blocks silent spyware programs that try to steal your identity by recording keys you type and pages that you view.

Spyware scanner scans your browsing session for dangerous spyware that may be running, while the spy site blocking finds and blocks spyware distribution sites as you surf the Web.

Temp file encryption encrypts the temporary files that are automatically created on your PC as you type info on the Web, so they can't be compromised by spyware on your PC.

Give it a shot now before they start hitting you for $30 next year.

Yeah, but think about how unstable Safari is on a lot of sites. And it also lacks the other benefits. There are a lot of solutions... just offering one of many for now.
