Cockspur rum has been a favorite in Barbados for over 120 years, recently going into wide distribution in the US. In addition to their Fine Rum, which works well in mixed drinks, they offer Cockspur 12, an aged rum meant to be sipped straight up or on the rocks.

Next time you're mixing try a couple of these...

Bajan Wave
1 ounce Cockspur rum
1/2 ounce coffee liqueur
Splash of cola
Shake rum and coffee liqueur in shaker filled with ice.  Strain into glass filled with ice cubes.  Top off with cola. Garnish with an orange slice.

Le Coq Rouge
2 ounces Cockspur rum
1 ounce gin
1 ounce lemon or lime juice
1 ounce triple sec
Shake all ingredients with ice.  Strain into a martini glasses and garnish with a twist of lemon peel.

The Cock Pit
1 ounce Cockspur Rum
2 ounces pineapple juice
2 ounces orange juice
1 dash lime juice
Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a lime wedge.
