Vodka is a hot spirit right now, partly fueled by its willingness to be infused with every fruit, herb and form of coffee bean you can imagine. Now gin, vodka's suddenly less popular older brother, is jumping aboard the flavored spirit bandwagon, and generating a lot of interest.

Tanqueray recently introduced Tanqueray Rangpur, infused with the rare Rangpur lime and several other botanicals. ...More

Next weekend is Cinco De Mayo, and the refried beans, chili relleños and margaritas will be flowing. Not exactly a healthy celebration, so pack a pocketful of antacids and drop a few strawberries in your margarita.

According to new research published in the Journal Of The Science Of Food And Agriculture (you should see the centerfold this month), the antioxidant ...More

A couple of weeks ago I was on a golf trip through Mississippi, and after playing The Azaleas course at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club (number 35 of the Top 100 in the US. Highly recommended.) we spent a night at the Pearl River Resort in Philadelphia. (Yes, there's Philadelphia in MS too.)

After dinner we went up to the Luna Lounge, an old-school club at the top of the resort, shaped like a moon that hangs off the roof of the building. The perfect place to drink. ...More

In a stunning development, Trump the Human announced in a press release that Trump the Magazine has entered into a strategic alliance with Trump the Vodka. How they were able to fight off competing magazines to score this promotional coup is a testament to the business savvy that is the Trump hallmark.

If you're not familiar with Trump Vodka, it's an "ultra-premium" vodka, one more product in a long line of "ultra-premium" products - hotels, shirts, magazines, water, failing casinos - that bear The Don's name. ...More

Tequila is one of those drinks that has more stories than the Sears Tower. Most of them start with, "Dude, seriously, no way. The last time I drank tequila..."

I have one of those stories. It involves a dive bar, a curly-haired Canadian girl, one very angry meter maid, and a pounding three-day hangover. And that's all I'm saying.

Tequila's bad rap is mostly because there's so much cheap, bad tequila out there being poured shot glass after shot glass down the throats of drunken idiots who don't know when to quit. But some really good tequilas have hit the shelves recently. Good enough that you need to give the drink another shot. Or sip. ...More

Cockspur rum has been a favorite in Barbados for over 120 years, recently going into wide distribution in the US. In addition to their Fine Rum, which works well in mixed drinks, they offer Cockspur 12, an aged rum meant to be sipped straight up or on the rocks.

Next time you're mixing try a couple of these...

Bajan Wave
1 ounce Cockspur rum
1/2 ounce coffee liqueur
Splash of cola
Shake rum and coffee liqueur ...More

Remember back when vodka was vodka? Simple, pure, colorless. Nearly tasteless, except for the "burn". Back before distillers began adding a dizzying array of flavors and colors. Ikon does. They've been making vodka in Russia the same way since 1862. When drinking vodka wasn't trendy, it made you forget how cold and harsh the winters were.

Ikon is quadruple distilled and filtered, creating the purest, cleanest taste that took the gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Here are a few simple and classic recipes ...More

Everything is going Brazilian. There's Brazilian bikinis. Brazilian waxes. (Necessary when wearing a Brazilian bikini.) And one of the hottest trends in spirits right now, Cachaça, pure sugarcane rum from Brazil.

Exceptional smoothness is one of its signatures, and it's the perfect exotic twist to use in drinks that usually call for traditional rum, or as a substitute for vodka or tequila. (For those of you who have had one of those tequila experiences.)

Out of a small plantation in Sao Paulo comes a full-bodied and ...More

I like this trend toward healthier drinks lately. Vitamins, antioxidants, herbal infusions. Drinks that aren't just better for you, but actually taste good and give you some real health benefits as well. (And after some of the last few weekends you've had, you could use some real health benefits.)
