Your tailgate just got a whole lot more interesting... Because if you've got 3 other people and a few square feet of space, you've got Spikeball.
Played with a round, bouncy net that stands a few inches off the ground, and a ball about the size of a softball,
Spikeball is simple to play, and can go anywhere.
Set it up on the beach, in a field, parking lot, on an indoor basketball court in winter. It doesn't matter. As long as the net sits level, you're good to go. After that, the rules are simple: you serve by spiking the ball into the net. The other team has three hits (just like in volleyball), to spike the ball back down on the net. Then it's your turn again to spike. Miss the net, or take more than 3 hits, and the other team gets a point. Get to 21 first and you win. And, if you're playing with me, they buy the beer.
There are also no out of bounds, and no "sides." You can slam it as hard as you want and drive the other team as far from the net as you want. And with no sides, you can circle the net 360 to get the best shot. Or bang bodies with the chicks you invited to play. (Always an ulterior motive.) Plus you'll be getting much needed cardio to help work of those beers you just won.
A complete set goes for $49.99 and includes the net, ball and a backpack to haul it to the beach/court/parking lot in.
But until Thanksgiving, Spikeball is offering the sets for just $35 plus free shipping. And the first 5 BG readers to put "Bachelor" in the coupon code area on checkout, will get a free XL Spikeball t-shirt added to their order. Not a bad deal for a "sport" you can play anywhere, anytime, at any age, and don't have to be 6'4" to be good at. And, unlike all the other games, you can practice alone. Your move, volleyball.
