TomTom ONE XL
04/19/2007

Wanna kill a date quick? You can either tell her all about how you won that Dungeons and Dragons tournament back in high school, or you can get hopelessly lost on the way to the restaurant.

I know as a rule it insults our manhood to ask for directions, but if directions are given to us...

The new TomTom ONE XL has the the most up to date maps on the market, rolling on an extra large (hence the XL) 4.3 inch touch screen. You also get their QuickGPSfix software for an even faster connection with GPS satellites and quick route calculation so you'll know if you'll be late for your reservation.

Other perks include real-time traffic and weather reports, updates on road conditions and the TomTom Buddies feature.

$399. Available in June at major retailers.

I have the Garmin Nuvi 350. It is one of the only GPS systems that actually speak the street names. It also has the traffic reports. It saved my butt this weekend in NY with the monsoon we had!

I have had a TomTom 300 since they first introduced on the market an love it. I have considered buying up to a newer model and perhaps if this one actually connects to the satellites quicker it may be time to buy.
