HD Entertainment in Your Lap - Sony VAIO FZ Notebook
05/09/2007

Sure it's a PC and it runs Vista. But it'll let you enjoy your HD content outside of your living room. And you won't have to refinance your house to buy one.

Sony's just released VAIO FZ premium model will play your Blu-ray discs at full 1080 HD resolution on a 15.4-inch widescreen display using their XBRITE-HiColor technology. (Because watching it on a crappy screen kinda defeats the purpose.) And there's an HDMI connector, so you can view your discs and other content on your home HDTV.

For true multimedia lovers they've included an array of features:
- Sound Reality technology for professional-quality, high-resolution surround-sound.
- Integrated camera and microphone so you can create your weekly YouTube submission from anywhere.
- LocationFree software so you can "place-shift" live TV, access your personal video recorder or DVD player, and view content on your notebook via the Internet.
- S-video connections for pluggin in your TV, camera or camcorder.
- ExpressCard that lets you port data from external devices at high speeds.

The FZ premium will go for around $2000, and will be available around mid May.

It has a hdcp graphics card? I'm surprised that HD capable PC/Notebooks are out yet, no graphics card are fully hdcp supporting. Oh sure they're compliant but they don't have the chip.
