Unless you live in South Florida and listen to Panthers games on the radio, you’ve probably never heard of Randy Moller. He’s the voice of the Panthers, and has one of the most unique goal calls in hockey. Moller yells random and ridiculous pop culture references after a Panthers score.
Why? Besides the fact that he probably took too many pucks to the head during his own NHL career, it gets the fans fired up. And gets them tuning in to the show. Because, while his calls might sound like random outbursts from a Tourrette Syndrome sufferer, his lines actually come from fans.
Moller calls games on the same radio station as Dan LeBatard, Miami Herald sports columnist and ESPN regular. LeBatard has listeners to his daily radio show call and write in possible pop references for Moller to scream after the Panthers score. Moller then decides which of the numerous entries to use.
Here are a couple “best of” compilations of Moller in action. “Ma, meatloaf!”
