Those of us non-geek types that have had the misfortune of having to set up wireless networks in our homes, you know what a major pain in the ass it can be.
Endless security settings, configurations with your ISP, and interference from other wireless devices… the list of potential problems is endless. So what if you want to share your Internet connection with more than one computer in your house but don’t want to call IT to set it up? The folks at Hercules have just the thing with their new ePlug network adaptors.
The Hercules 85Mbps ePlug lets you connect to your home Internet connection from any room in your house through your electrical outlets. There’s no need to have a phone line in the room or even a wireless card installed in your system to take advantage of this technology, either. (Or a room full of geeks in WoW t-shirts.) The starter kit comes with two adapters and two Ethernet cables as well as a pretty simple self-start CD that’ll have you connected in no time.
All you need to do is plug one of the adapters into the wall by your router or high-speed cable or DSL modem (my sympathies if you’re still on dial-up), and connect it to the adapter via Ethernet cable. You then take the other adapter to the room with the second computer and plug it into the wall. Hook up the computer to the adapter with the included Ethernet cable and after a quick software install you’re connected.
The Hercules ePlug network adapters make it easy to create your own home network without the hassle of wireless or additional routers. And since the network never leaves your house, you can surf with complete security. If you want to increase your network by adding more adapters, it’s as easy as plugging it in and pushing the pairing button. And you wont have to deal with any “nerditiude” for pulling your IT guy away from his frag party.
