Yeah, I agree that the graphics and realism of today’s video games are awesome, and make for some seriously immersive gameplay, but there will never be anything like the sound and feel of a classic pinball game. And Stern Pinball, the last and only manufacturer of arcade-quality pinball machines left in the world, feels the same way. With roots creating these machines going all the way back to the 1930’s, they’ve just released their latest: Iron Man Classic.
Solid enough to be used in an arcade, but made exclusively for home use, it features sound effects and music from both Iron Man movies, with mechanical characters that add to the challenge, like Whiplash, who tries to capture the ball, War Machine firing the ball back toward the flippers, and Iron Monger, who rises from underneath the playfield to mess with your game. And come on, there’s nothing more impressive in your Man Cave or Dude Den than a classic pinball machine ready to go in the corner. Something a small plastic box and a game controller can never match.
