Kelley Blue Book’s Top 10 Green Cars
For their newly-launched KBBGreen section, the auto pros over at Kelly Blue Book put together their list of the Top 10 Green Cars for 2008.
Here’s a quick rundown of the cars they chose and the mileage you can expect from each. There are three SUVs on the list, one diesel, two subcompacts, and four non-hybrid gas-sippers. You can read KBB’s full commentary here.
10. 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid
21 mpg: 21 city/22 highway
Full-sized SUV with seating for eight that can tow over 8000 lbs.

26 mpg: 27 city/25 highway
Crossover with seating for seven, and 4WD standard.
8. 2008 Mercedes-Benz E320 BLUETEC
26 mpg: 23 city/32 highway
Smooth, quiet and clean E-Class diesel.
7. 2008 Honda Fit
31 mpg: 28 city/34 highway
Sub-compact that starts at under $15k, offers a sport model with paddle shifters and performance-tuned suspension.
6. 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid
32 mpg: 34 city/30 highway
A compact crossover that gives the SUV feel, with high mileage appeal.
5. 2008 MINI Cooper
32 mpg: 28 city/37 highway
Distinctive styling and fun to drive… and get 37-mpg highway on regular gas.
4. 2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid
34 mpg: 35 city/33 highway
Licensed the popular hybrid technology from Toyota, a mid-sized sedan that offers push-button start, navigation with traffic info and a rearview camera.
3. 2008 smart fortwo
36 mpg: 33 city/41 highway

2. 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid
42 mpg: 40 city/45 highway
Second only to Prius in fuel economy and has a traditional sedan shape.
1. 2008 Toyota Prius
46 mpg: 48 city/45 highway
The best-selling hybrid on the road, and the most fuel-efficient car on the road. And it seats five adults.
