Nice Ice, Baby
03/27/2007

People are anal about their water. (I figured I'd just jump right in today.) So many things they're particular about. It's gotta be distilled. And come from a "natural source". If they're extra picky it must be Artesian. Then there is the sparkling vs. still debate. I can understand wanting to only put pure, natural things into your body. I personally only drink bottled water. (The tap water where I live pretty much renders that necessary.) The problem is keeping the pure, natural bottled water you're drinking cold. Put ice in it and you've ruined the purity of your water. Don't put ice in and you have cold water for about a half hour. If only there was ice as pure as your water...

aquaICE is purified, filtered water that comes in sealed trays you chill in the freezer. Once solid, peel back the seal and pop out the cubes. It's as pure as your bottled water, so there's no contamination risk and your water stays cool. And since the trays can be frozen, thawed and refrozen multiple times you can use only the cubes you need without waste. It's also available with natural lemon and lime essences, if you want to give your water an extra twist.

Here's a tip: drop aquaICE into soft drinks and mixed drinks. Since ice you make at home - and a lot of bagged ice - can have an off-taste, using it can alter a drink's flavor. You're spending top dollar for top-shelf liquor, why risk having your martini taste faintly like the floor of an old barn?

A box of aquaICE contains five, 10-cube trays and will be available soon in the bottled water section of your local supermarket.

$4.99 per box
