Pre-Movember Cocktails - Drinks Inspired by Famous Mustaches
10/15/2009

I'll be doing a full post next week, but if you remember my post from last year, next month is Movember. Which means Canadian Club whisky is once again teaming up with the Movember Foundation to get men nationwide to "Grow a 'Mo" to help raise awareness for prostate cancer. (Info here.)

Since this is an issue that hits close to home for me, I'll be growing mine and competing with other guy sites - like Asylum, AskMen, Men's Fitness, Gear Patrol, MoonDog Sports, and others - to see who has the best 'mo. And I'll be giving away swag to you guys who grow your own mustaches, and send in pics. (Again, more on that next week.)

To get warmed up for the Movember Madness, Canadian Club has concocted some cocktails inspired by truly legendary mustaches. The ones proudly sported by Ron Burgundy, Ned Flanders, Burt Reynolds as Bandit, and of course, Magnum P.I.

So while you're letting your upper lip get some much needed coverage this Movember, mix up a couple of these 'mo drinks, put some disco on the hi-fi, and party like it's 1979.

The Burgundy
1 1/2 parts Canadian Club Whisky
4 parts Ginger Ale
Splash of Cranberry Juice

Mix ingredients in a classy low ball filled with ice. Sip liberally before going on air. Mix another for the lady waiting in your dressing room. Stay tipsy, San Diego.

The Flanders
1 1/2 parts Canadian Club Whiskey
1/2 part sweet Vermouth
Dash of bitters

Who are you to question the deliciousness and mind altering powers provided by this nectar of the Almighty? And hi-diddly-ho, it's got a cheery cherry in it!

The Bandit
1 1/2 parts Canadian Club Whisky
4 parts Club Soda
Lemon

Will make it harder to get to Texarkana and back in 28 hours... so leave it for Sheriff Buford T. Justice. Might slow him down a bit.

The Magnum
1 1/2 parts Canadian Club Whisky
4 parts Ginger Ale
Lime

Forget the directions, just get Higgins to make it.

Head over to the Movember Foundation for more 'mo info.
