If you're heading out to do some shredding on the slopes this winter, forget using crappy rental gear, you're gonna want to have your own stuff with you.
But if you've flown at all, you know that the baggage handlers can be less than gentle when transporting your bags from gate to gate, and shipping your gear back and forth can cost almost as much as buying new stuff when you get to the mountain.
So short of bringing your board on board and stowing it in the overhead bin, or trying to get through security with a four-foot pointed pole, your best bet is to find the safest way to get your gear to the slopes. Which is why I'm giving away a
Sportube Snowboard Case.
A lightweight, hard shell case that'll protect up to two snowboards (you are inviting your girl along, aren't you?), with boots and bindings, and up to three pairs of skis and poles, the Sportube Series 3 is made of blow molded, high-density polyethylene which can stand up to the toughest baggage handlers. And it's lockable to keep strange mitts off your stuff.
Adjustable from 42-inches to a full 72-inches, there are no external buckles, zippers or permanently attached straps to get snagged or damaged during transport, and molded rubber wheels make going from home to slope and back, as easy as rolling down a mountain side. If you're looking for more of a workout, you can opt for the detachable shoulder strap instead.
For local trips, the Sportube can also be strapped to the top of your car. Or, if you really don't feel like letting the airlines touch your gear, the cases can be shipped via FedEx or UPS. (Not sure how much gentler they are, but might still be cheaper than those ridiculous airline baggage fees.)
To win the $179.95 Sportube Series 3 Multi Ski Case, all you need to do is
