Sex Survey Says: Missionaries Rejoice! Your Position is Still the Favorite
05/23/2011

It's always a good idea to have a few tricks, and a signature move or two, up your sleeve in bedroom, but a new survey conducted by LifeStyles Condoms, found that the boring old standby, the Missionary Position, may not be so boring after all.

In fact, it was the clear favorite sexual position for both men and women. It seems eye contact is key. The only discrepancy was who we liked on top. Proving we’re all lazy in bed, both males’ and females’ favorite sex position is to have their partner on top.

36% of men preferred to have her on top (we're tired after a long day at the office), with only 21% of women preferring to ride, while 36% of women preferred to have us on top, with 20% of men wanting to put in the effort.

Here's what else they found:

Apparently it’s a Doggy Style world. It's the second most favorite way to do the deed, with 30% of all male respondents and 26% of all female respondents digging the traditional doggy style position. This in comparison to a mere 8% of guys and 3% of girls who like the "reverse cowgirl" position.

The less complicated, the better. No surprise here – only 2% of all male and females respondents prefer face-to-face lying sideways. Similarly, only 3% of male and females prefer rear entry lying sideways. Too advanced, maybe...

Before or After? The majority of females surveyed reported that their favorite part about sex is the lead up and foreplay (41%), while the men say their favorite part is making their partner orgasm (35%)

Under the sun. Over 50% of women say they’ve had sex in a public place.

Promiscuity is overrated (and over reported). In reality, Americans aren’t sleeping around as much as the media may portray. In fact, about 50% of males (49%) and females (48%) have had fewer than 4 partners in their lifetime.

Three’s a Crowd. No surprises here... While 74% of guys would like to have a threesome with another girl, only 41% of females would be willing to do so. Also (sorry guys), less than 1 in 10 girls (7%) have actually had a threesome and enjoyed it.

Bring on the Toys. Fresh on the heels of the New York Times report about sex toys (like LifeStyles a:Muse Massager), moving into mainstream drugstores, LifeStyles' survey finds that 55% of females want to incorporate sex toys into their bedroom behavior, and 26% of them already do. Guys wouldn’t mind getting in on the action either, with 59% reporting they’d like to take females up on this offer. And, surprisingly, 1 in 5 guys owns a vibrator.

Fidelity is not dead. More than three-quarters of respondents (77%) have never cheated on their significant other, and the same number still wouldn’t cheat, even if they knew they wouldn’t get caught.

And that's just the tip... of the iceburg. Lifestyles will be rolling out new stats each week on their website, Twitter feed (@LifeStylesUSA), and Facebook page.
