Ever wanted to be a treasure hunter? Now you can.
For 25 years, from 1967-1991, Canadian Club Whisky had a promotion where they hid cases of CC over the world. They used a series of classic ads like the one above, to drop clues as to where those 25 cases were hiding. And in the 19 years since the last case was hidden, only 16 were ever found. Nine still remain in their original hiding places. (And given that they are located in places like the Yukon Territory, Loch Ness, Robinson Crusoe Island, and a special Christmas case hidden at the North Pole, it’s not entirely surprising.)
So CC has resurrected the search this week, and the hunt is on for those remaining cases. Only now, instead of in print ads, the clues will come in digital form, at HideACase.com. You can also view the classic clue ads, and hear stories of the lost and found cases. Like the first case ever hidden, which was on Mt. Kilimanjaro, between the glaciers and ice fields. It stayed hidden for 10 years until it was found on New Years Eve 1977 by accident by a Danish journalist out looking for his lost children.
For this contest CC is looking for 8 adventurers to go on a hunt around the wold for one of the missing cases. Be the one to find it, and you’ll score $100k. (Which buys a lot of whisky.) The other 7 will get $12,500. (Which still buys a lot of whisky.)
Details on how to get in on the hunt are easy. Just head over to HideACase.com. You can finally put that big brain of yours to good use.
