There’s a Royal Wedding. That Means We’re Drinking Pimm’s Cups
So there’s a royal wedding happening tomorrow. And if you’re like me, the only thing you really care about isn’t what the bride is wearing, or how much the wedding cost, or how many white doves will be released.
What you’re thinking is we are getting the hottest new princess since those ladies from Monaco hit the Euro club scene… and we have a great excuse to raise a glass. And in true Anglophile fashion, that glass should contain Pimm’s.
Not familiar with Pimm’s? With an official Royal Warrant of Appointment from the Queen as Distillers and Compounders to Her Majesty (seems Her Royal Highness fancies a nip now and again), this gin-based spirits drink, flavored with liqueurs and fruits, is a brilliant way to celebrate in an authentic, royal fashion. And it’s the perfect excuse to invite your own lady-in-waiting over for a cocktail.
Pimm’s Cup
Serves 8
8 ounces Pimm’s No. 1 Cup
24 ounces chilled lemon lime soda
Mint
Cucumber slices
Orange slices
Strawberries, cut into pieces
Mix all ingredients in a jug (British for pitcher), filled with ice. Stir, pour into a tall glass garnished with a small Union Jack, and enjoy.
