Another weekend with nothing worth paying $9 to see…
Next – Movie Date Index: 3 out of 5. Has Nicholas Cage made anything decent since Leaving Las Vegas? Even though the super hero thing doesn’t seem to be working out for him, Cage tries it again, this time playing a man who has the ability to see two minutes into his future. Handy for crime fighting, not so handy for choosing scripts. It’s not a great movie, but there’s some decent action (the opening casino scene is great) and somewhat of a love story your date might appreciate.
The Invisible – Movie Date Index: 2 out of 5. What happens when you die and your body can’t be found? You become one of the Invisible, and must solve the mystery of your own death or become lost forever. Go only if you’re both into mediocre supernatural thrillers.
The Condemned – Movie Date Index: 0 out of 5. If there’s a movie with balls-to-the-wall action, I’m there. Except for this one. It has an interesting premise: 10 murderers are sent to an island to fight to the death in front a Pay-Per-View audience. The last one standing gets life in prison instead of the death penalty. It has ex WWE wrestling star Steve Austin and Vinnie (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) Jones. And that’s all it has. The movie is just flat-out awful.
