01/11/2008

How can you not open a bottle of wine for her on Valentine's Day named Heart Block?

With grapes grown right in the middle - or heart - of the Gamble Vineyard (owned by often-used BG expert source and friend, Tom Gamble), in Napa Valley, this very limited edition Sav from Source-Napa recently scored a 94 from the Wine Enthusiast in their March issue.

The limited run of 600 bottles is down to under 200 that are still available, so if you are interested, act quickly. You can buy directly from Source-Napa, here. (Sign up for their mailing list and get 35% off. Not a bad deal.)

Here are the bullet points on the wine:
- Made with 59% vrais Sauvignon Musque de Loire and 41% Preston Sauvignon Blanc grapes.
- The juice was fermented in barrel on the bits of grape pulp that have the essential oils and important flavor components.
- Aged for 19 months in French oak barrels.
- The nose is apple, apricot and orange peel.
- The tasting notes are marmalade, lime, honeysuckle and apple.
- Has moderate alcohol, is crisp and clean and full-flavored.
