10/09/2009

[Our handicappers, Side Rosenberg and Chris Genske give you their top 2 picks for this weekend... again, purely for entertainment purposes.]

It’s tough to stay modest after posting another 2-0 weekend for our friends at BG but we’ll try to do our best to provide you with stellar advice for 2 featured games of the weekend... with many more found through visiting our handicap page at VegasInsider.com.

So we're sitting at 6-2, with a 75% correct pick record, and we plan to keep the momentum rolling this week with another NCAA and NFL perfect storm featuring a Big Ten Match-up with Michigan State traveling to Illinois and an AFC North battle with Cincinnati Bengals traveling to Baltimore to face the Ravens.

Saturday October 10, 2009 – Michigan State Spartans vs. Illinois Fighting Illini (12:00 pm EST)
The fans at Memorial Stadium will be treated to a big game between the Michigan State Spartans and the Illinois Fighting Illini when they take their seats on Saturday. Oddsmakers currently have the Spartans listed as 3-point favorites versus the Fighting Illini, while the game's total is sitting at 55.

Larry Caper's touchdown run at the end of overtime gave Michigan State a 26-20 win over undefeated Michigan in Week 5 while Juice Williams threw for 262 yards, one touchdown and one interception for Illinois in a 35-17 loss to Penn State in Week 5. (The Illini did not cover the 7-point spread.) Without looking like were picking on Illinois every week, the cards are stacked against them. Michigan State is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games when playing Illinois and Illinois is 1-6 SU in its last 7 games. Sorry Fighting Illini, but WE ARE SPARTANS! PLAY ON MICHIGAN STATE.

Sunday October 11, 2009 – Cincinnati Bengals vs. Baltimore Ravens (1:00 pm EST)
Divisional bragging rights will be on the line on Sunday when the Cincinnati Bengals and the Baltimore Ravens meet at M&T Bank Stadium.

Oddsmakers currently have the Ravens listed as 8-point favorites versus the Bengals, while the game's total is sitting at 42. Shayne Graham booted a 31-yard field goal in overtime in Week 4 as the Bengals barely beat the Browns 23-20. While Joe Flacco was 27-of-47 for 264 yards passing with two TD tosses and an interception for Baltimore in its 27-21 disappointing loss to New England in Week 4.

Flacco truly has this team running on all cylinders and will look to rebound after what should have been a victory over Patriots; The Ravens 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games at home. The Bengals are 4-14 ATS in its last 18 games when playing on the road against Baltimore and we don’t expect things to change. It’s a big number, but look for the Ravens to shut down Cincy’s offense and win by double digits – PLAY ON BALTIMORE RAVENS.
